What’s In a Name?

Everyday I hear people refer to us as a trailer park and I take offense to that. As a resident of Johanna Woods Manufactured Home Community, you should, too. Have you visited a trailer park lately? If you haven’t, maybe you should. Our goal in Johanna Woods is to NOT look like a trailer park. That means we have higher expectations of our residents and higher standards of what is acceptable in maintaining our property. You shouldn’t see homes that are falling apart here, grass that is knee high, or common grounds and buildings that are poorly maintained. Is everything in our community perfect? Of course not, but we work hard every day to maintain an above average community that all our residents can be proud to call home. So, next time someone calls your home a trailer park, do what I do and kindly point out the differences to them. Still think it doesn’t matter? Where would you rather live?

Any one for a swim?
The pool will open on May 27th this year. We will be managing the pool a little differently this year, so please pay particular attention to the following dates and times. We will keep the office open until 8:00 PM on the 22nd, 23rd and 26th so that parental consent forms can be signed and pool passes and rules can be issued. We will also be available on Saturday morning the 27th from 10:00 AM until 1:00 PM. Everyone who uses the pool must have a pool pass ON THEIR PERSON in order to use the pool and these must be issued in advance. If the extended hours listed above still do not work for your schedule, please call the office and I will make arrangements to meet with you at a different time.

Survey Says
Many of the surveys had suggestions or questions written in that we were either working on or that I can provide some information about. So here goes!

  • You asked about local babysitting – We currently have 2 licensed day care providers in our community. Call me if you need to get in touch with them.
  • You asked about trash receptacles at the playground – They were ordered early this year and have finally arrived! We will get them in place as soon as we can.
  • You asked about more trees being planted in the community – We have planted around 60 trees already this year.
  • You asked about speed bumps on 30th St. – This one is up to the city. They did a traffic study on both Johanna and 30th Street at the same time. There was not enough traffic on 30th to warrant this type of traffic calming measure. Now, as more of you travel 30th to avoid the bumps on Johanna, this could change, but that’s the scoop for now!
  • You asked for tables with umbrellas at the pool – We hope to have some in place by the time the pool opens! Thanks again for your input on the survey. If we didn’t want to know, we wouldn’t have asked!

Obviously, we can’t address or implement everything, but it’s good to hear from you! And remember one other thing. For every improvement we make in the community, there will be someone who, for whatever reason, would prefer to destroy it. Please help us take care of YOUR investment. If you see someone abusing OUR community property, stop them! Call the police and let the office know. Wouldn’t you rather see our money spent on improvements than repairs?

Neighbor News
Congratulations to Carole Whiten! She won the cable drawing for May! Our Condolences to Cindy Paige for her recent family loss.

Remember These Dates

  • It’s time for another vote! On May 9th, there will be an election to decide Broken Arrow School issues!
  • The office will be closed on the 29th for the Memorial Day Holiday. The Johanna Woods staff hopes you have a wonderful holiday with your family.

Are You Busy Making Your Home Beautiful?
The Manufactured Housing Association of Oklahoma is looking for the most beautiful homes in our state. There are cash prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners. We will be taking pictures and submitting several homes from Johanna Woods during the month of May. If you would like to have your home considered, call the office. Let’s show off our community and homes!

Then, if you would like to make yourself more beautiful – or just find a great gift idea for a special occasion, you are invited to a Mary Kay Spring Time Open House. This will be May 6th, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM in the Clubroom. There will be a drawing for all guests and all orders will be discounted 10%. Call 355-1214 for more info.
