What Makes A Manufactured Home A “trailer”?
As I was driving through the community the other day, I noticed one of our older homes that was neatly painted and attractively landscaped. As I stopped to admire it the answer to that question occurred to me. The contour of the home, its width and the lack of pitch to the roof all indicated that it was built at least two decades ago. But is it the age of a manufactured home that makes it a trailer? Not at all. Just down the street from this home I saw an obviously later model home that needs a coat of paint and the skirting has gaps in it and is in disrepair. This newer home looks like a „trailer‰ because it has been neglected. The family that lived there did not care for it and make it a home. That makes all the difference in the world. It all goes back to that „trailer‰ mentality of the past. Sure manufactured homes are less expensive to live in than site-built homes, but that’s one of the advantages of living in them not one of the drawbacks! Just because we choose to live in a low cost form of housing doesn’t mean we are living in low income housing! There’s a big difference between the two and neglect is the main factor. Many of us who live in Johanna Woods could live in a more expensive home if we chose to do so. But most of us have decided to own a nice home and live in a nice community and still enjoy life without spending $1,000 every month on a house payment! It was an easy choice for me, because I have been the other route before and don’t ever plan to do it again. Life is too short and I don’t want to miss it! I know a lot of you feel the same way. I recently assisted with the sale of a couple of older homes in our community. The re-sale value of these homes was very high because the homes had been well maintained and loved by their owners-and it was apparent to the buyers as well as to the appraisers. Is it a home or a „trailer‰? That’s pretty much up to each of us, but the answer will be obvious to everyone!

1/2 C water
1/2 C ketchup
1/4 C minced onion
1/4 C minced green bell pepper
1 T sugar
2 teaspoons Worcestershire
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon pepper
6 T-Bone Steaks

Over medium-high heat, boil for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Grill or broil the steaks, turning once and basting often with sauce. Cook steaks to desired level of doneness and serve with remaining sauce.
$ Saving Hint: You can save some grocery $ ‘s by selecting 5-ounce portions of Sirloin instead if T-bones.

Time Saving Hint: The sauce can be made up to 4 days ahead. Just keep it sealed in a container in the refrigerator until you are ready to cook!

Need an Outdoor Grill so you can enjoy this recipe?
For the month of June, instead of a cable drawing, we will be drawing for a new charcoal grill! Actually we will be drawing for a $75.00 gift certificate to Wal-Mart. That way if you don’t have a grill you can buy one. And if you already have a grill you can use the money for anything you want-some thick juicy steaks, some flowers for your garden, whatever! What a deal!

One of the best things about summer is outdoor cooking. Those big juicy steaks, chicken, chops or great hamburgers! Everything always tastes better cooked on the grill and I don’t want you to miss out if you don’t have one at your home yet. Your rent payment is your entry for this drawing and as long as it is in the office by the 5th of June you are entered! Good Luck!

Johanna Woods Salutes Dads!!!
As we did for moms in may, we have a day set aside in June to recognize our Dds and tell them how much we love and appreciate them. Dad’s roles have changed a little bit in the last few years, but one thing hasn’t changed; Every kid needs a dad. Someone who can be tough when they have to be and soft when they need to be. Someone to teach little boys how to work and fly kites and to be the best beau and protector for those little girls! It’s a tough job-one that takes a dad to get it done. Thanks, Dads!
