APRIL 2003

Our Nation at War…
This writing occurs on the morning of March 20th, after the United States began military action in Iraq the night before. There is a time lapse between this writing and when it actually reaches the doors of our residents. This time difference is due to preparing the newsletter so that it can be posted on our web-site and prepared for distribution in a timely fashion. So, if any of this looks like “old news”, perhaps this explanation helps. Our nation, along with many others, have begun in the removal of a dictator with the potential for surpassing Hitler in the atrocities he may well be capable of. While individual and national opinions on his weaponry, intentions or capability might differ, there is no doubt as to the role that each one of us can take in this conflict. We can pray. We should pray and we MUST pray. We have neighbors, family and friends involved in this important and dangerous moment in world history. Without God’s help America cannot succeed, but with his help we cannot fail. But let us not take for granted that his help will be readily available to us. We must humbly seek his help and hope that he will graciously bestow it. Let’s stand together in prayer for our soldiers and for our country. May God Bless and Keep America!

Lawn Care Begins Again!
Sure seems to roll around in a hurry doesn’t it—sort of like paying the bills each month! If you are looking for someone to help with your lawn care chores, we might be able to give you a hand. The following poeple have provided lawn care services in the past and may be interested in doing so again:
• R.L. Woods 355-3090
• Rob Sewell 355-0764
• Richard Beeler 355-5709
• Curtis Rinehart 355-5145
• Wesley Moheng 355-6000
We will provide other names as we get them later. Remember, in Johanna Woods, proper lawn care includes mowing, trimming and edging of all concrete surfaces so the home looks neat!

Need a Ventriloquist?
One of our neighbors, Juanita Wiles, is available for birthday parties, church or school activities or any other event where you would like entertainment that is a little out of the ordinary. She has many years of experience and is a member of the North American Association of Ventriloquists. You can reach her at 355-7361 to schedule her for a party or event.

For Johanna Woods Only…
Neighbor Pam Hughey, proprietor of Shiloh’s restaurant, would like to make a special offer available to her neighbors. During the month of April, you can take your Johanna Woods newsletter to Shiloh’s, enjoy a fine meal and receive a 20% discount when you purchase two entrees! Rumor has it that the pies and rolls at Shiloh’s are out of this world! The restaurant is located at 51st street and 129th E. Ave, right where the BA expressway crosses 51st St. This is a great offer, brought to you by one of your neighbors and available just for you because you live in Johanna Woods. We hope you will take advantage of it and if you have not met these neighbors, please introduce yourself when you go in! It’s the neighborly thing to do!

For Johanna Woods Only…
April is National Lawn & Garden month. It is also when the four-sided inspections will begin in Johanna Woods. It seems an appropriate time to do something along the lines of home improvement/beautification. So, for the month of April, we will have a drawing for a $25.00 gift certificate from Lowe’s. Your on-time rent payment is your entry for the drawing and nothing else is required! What a deal. Lowe’s always has a great selection of spring and summer plants, flowers and trees, as well as all the home improvement items you could ever need. And they are just down the road! Keep those cards and letters coming and get those rent payments in on time and you could be shopping at Lowe’s on us! Thanks for being part of the community. We are glad you are here!

Inspections Begin this Month…
Lord willing and weather permitting, the four-sided inspections will begin this month. If you are not sure of the areas that will be covered, you can stop by the office, or call, and we will provide you with a copy of the inspection worksheet. Whenever major repairs are required, ample time is provided for their completion. But if your inspection sheet from last year mentioned that you would need to paint your home this year, you should already be planning for that task. That sounds pretty much like ample time to plan and prepare to me! Let’s all do our part to make our community and homes beautiful!

The Yard Sale…is On!
We have had a pretty good response from residents interested in having a community yard sale, so we are going to! We have tentatively planned this event for the 26th of April. If it rains, we will move this to the following weekend, May 3rd. All of the advertising will be taken care of by the community and we hope you will plan to participate in this event.
