A Higher Standard
How often do you hear or see that slogan in advertising today? In our highly competitive world, every business tries to attract and retain customers by offering more or better services than the business down the street. And, for the most part, we, as consumers, appreciate those businesses that really do provide outstanding services or better products. They are becoming harder and harder to find! The same philosophy behind this slogan is why we do annual inspections in Johanna Woods. We want to maintain a higher standard in manufactured home living. There are communities all over the state where a manufactured home can be placed. And there are communities where the monthly rent is less than in Johanna Woods. But have you looked at any of those communities lately? High standards is not the first phrase that comes to mind where most of them are concerned. It’s just a reality of life that without constant oversight and adherence to “high standards”, manufactured home communities can become “trailer parks” before the warranty period is up on a new home. So, before you grumble too much about your inspection, remember it could always be worse. You could be living in a community where there are no standards. Or, where there “used to be” standards, but now the pressure on the bottom line has caused them to be ignored. Where would you really rather live?

Resident Referrals Work!

Knock, Knock! Who’s there? It’s a free months rent! Remember those corny old jokes from when you were a kid? We’ve all heard them, and most of us have probably told some of them. But here’s an opportunity that’s on the level. You can skip a months rent simply by telling your friends and relatives about your community. If you know someone who is considering moving, tell them about Johanna Woods. If they buy a home here or bring a home in, you get to skip the rent for a month! Several residents have taken advantage of this offer over the last few months. Nancy Rinehart is keeping her rent payment for June. How about you? Will you be the one skipping July?

Cook’s Corner

Chicken Kabobs
4 skinless, boneless chicken breast halves-cubed
1 large green bell pepper, but into 2 inch pieces
1 onion, cut into wedges
1 large red bell pepper, cut into 2 inch pieces
1 cup barbeque sauce

Preheat the grill for high heat cooking. Thread the chicken, green pepper, onion and red pepper pieces on to the skewers, alternating between the chicken and vegetables. Lightly oil the grill grate. Place the prepared kabobs on the prepared grill and brush with barbeque sauce. Cook for 15 minutes or until the chicken juices run clear, turning and brushing with sauce fairly frequently. Bring out the iced tea and enjoy!

Lawn Care Basics
As we get into the mowing season, it’s fair to say that we all appreciate how lovely and green everything looks. But, it’s probably also fair to say that it would be nice if so much effort wasn’t required to keep everything neat and tidy during the Summer. Sadly, the grass just doesn’t know when it’s the right height and the weeds always grow better than anything else in the yard. Proper lawn care in Johanna Woods is mowing AND trimming around our homes, buildings, concrete surfaces and anything else in our yard. If it isn’t trimmed, it isn’t done!
