Deck The Halls
Deck /dek/ verb: to decorate or adorn brightly or festively.  Most of you already know the definition of the word “deck” and if my grammar training—and memory— serve me, verbs imply action…so what are you waiting for? It’s Christmas!  It’s a time when simple pleasures can create the best memories.  A time when, faith, home and family once again take center stage, in an otherwise busy world.  It’s a time when stores, businesses and cities “deck the halls” (or streets) to celebrate the season.  As you prepare for the Christmas season, this year, focus on the things that are most important.  Think back to what made the season so special and memorable when you were young, and re-create those family traditions in your home.  There is nothing like coming inside on a cold day and being greeted by the aroma of something wonderful cooking!  Check out the Cook’s Corner for a new baking idea.  If this year has not been everything you wanted it to be financially, don’t let that put a damper on your Christmas cheer.  There are many decorations for your home and tree that can be made easily and inexpensively.  And when you do things like that, as a family, you make priceless memories.  Don’t be stressed out by the season, enjoy it!  If it snows, go out and make a snowman, if it’s clear, enjoy the sunshine!

Don’t Be A Target For Christmas Crime
As awesome as Christmas is, there are still “grinches” out there who would spoil the season for you, given the chance.  Stay ahead of them by planning  safety measures into your holiday schedule.  Here are some common sense tips: 1) Don’t make gifts visible from outside your home.  2)  If you are shopping at night, park in well lighted areas.  3)  Take someone shopping with you.  You’ll be safer and have more fun.  4)  Lock gifts and packages out of sight, in your trunk.  5) Have your keys out as you walk to your car. 6) Keep a firm grip on your purse and packages as you walk.  7)  Keep car doors locked and windows rolled up when driving.  8)  ALWAYS be aware of your surroundings.  Finally, stay calm – and don’t stay so busy you can’t enjoy the holidays:-)

Best Wishes To Evelyn Graham!
On the 10th of November Johanna Woods bid a fond, though reluctant, farewell to Evelyn Graham.  Ms. Graham joined Johanna Woods in January of 1985 and had the distinction of being our longest term resident.  Among her more impressive accomplishments is the honorable distinction of having served in the military during World War II as a Navy WAVE; She was one of the first.  Ms. Graham left us reluctantly as well, as a result of her 93 years “catching up” to her.  She will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure and privilege of knowing her.  We wish her the very best and thank her not only for her military service, but her constant cheerfulness, kindness and loyalty to our community.  She maintained her home beautifully and was a model resident for nearly 3 decades.  As she begins a new chapter in her life, we hope she has many good years ahead.  Johanna Woods has lost several of our fine residents this year to death and illness, so while we will surely miss her, we are pleased to be able to wish her well and hope to have her stop by and see us once in a while!  All our best to you!
