Newsletter & Calendar - December 2002

‘Tis the Season to be Jolly and Joyful!
At least it should be! It's a time of year that brings out the kid in all of us. It's a time for wonderful baked goods, candies and hot chocolate on a cold morning. Think of how pleasant it is to walk into a warm kitchen where there's a pie or cake in the oven! There's nothing like it and it's that time of year! No doubt, we have seen some tough economic conditions in our country this past year. And maybe this year's Christmas budget has had to shrink a little bit as a result. But that may not be such a terrible thing. Have you ever seen a child open a gift and then spend as much time playing with the box it came in as they did with what was inside? Sometimes we, as adults, can complicate Christmas and the months following because of our hopes and the things we would like to do. If this year is a little leaner financially than previous years, don't stress about it. Remember instead the things that are really the most important and focus on them. Is the family intact? Is everyone in good health? Is there a roof overhead and a warm bed to sleep in at night? If we can answer yes to these questions, we have much to be thankful for! Enjoy your family over the holidays. Worship with them and celebrate the real reason for Christmas- and be thankful you live in America , too!

Holiday Neighborhood Watch! Humbug?
There are some folks out there who would like to turn your holiday into a sad occasion by enriching themselves at your expense! Don't let them. Here are some practical Holiday Safety Tips:

  • Don't make gift displays visible from outside of your home.
  • Don't advertise your Christmas gifts by placing large item boxes out at the curb on trash day. Break them down first.
  • Immediately after the holidays, engrave expensive items with your driver's license number. An engraver is available for check out through the Johanna Woods Office.
  • When shopping, especially at night, shop with a friend. Not only will you be safer, you will have more fun! Stay Safe!

Resident Information Updates Needed Again
It's time once again to make sure that the information we have in your resident file is current. Jobs change, phone numbers change and we don't always know it. But we need to. Please take a moment to complete the Resident information sheet that is included with this copy of your newsletter and return it to the office with your December rent payment. We will only use this information to update our files. It is very important that we have current info for each of our residents so that we can get in touch with you in the event of an emergency. And filling it out could earn you some Christmas $.

For Johanna Woods Only!
For the month of December, instead of a cable drawing, we will draw for two (2!) $50.00 gift certificates from Wal-Mart! Just in time for the holidays! Such a deal and it's only available to you because you live in Johanna Woods! Do they do this in Eagle Creek, or Quail Hollow! I don't think so! Returning your completed resident information sheet with your on-time rent payment will be your entry for this drawing. It's too easy. Good luck, thank you and Happy Holidays!!

Street Repairs Have Begun!
What a wonderful Christmas present for our community! The City of Broken Arrow is currently working to repair damaged sections of our streets. Repairs have been planned for a long time and it is good to see them being made at last. It's likely you have already run into some inconveniences as a result of this work. And there will probably be more inconveniences and detours for each of us before this major task is complete. But be patient with the process and other drivers and we will soon be finished and be so much better because of it. Isn't it good to live in such a high quality, well-maintained community! We could be driving on asphalt and dodging pot-holes without any hope of seeing road improvements made. Thanks Broken Arrow!

Would you be Interested in Skipping a House Payment?
